Gave it a god go, stayed out of trouble and kept out of the way of the sprinters in the run in (who were only going for 20th place anyway).<br /><br />230 Watts average is par for the course for that kind of race on that kind of circuit (flat), which is what you could do on a steady endurance ride, however that doesn't tell the whole story as you allude to above. All those short sharp efforts add up plus you need to handle those bursts of speed, when your legs are spinning at 100-130 rpm. It all takes its toll.<br /><br />The guys in the front group will probably have been averaging around 370-380W for the full race (as a rough guess), but there would have been points when they were averaging much more (Simon Richardson solo'd the last lap).
